3/8/2016 Great slot canyon hike. The most unique thing about Willis is that the payoff is almost immediate as you enter narrows within a quarter mile of the parking lot. There are four separate narrows sections before the canyon opens up where Averett Canyon comes in.

Willis Creek is a slot canyon that follows a small stream and never gets too narrow. It is beautiful and shady and there is a good chance to see wildlife along the way. From the trailhead (see directions for finding the trail below), cross the road, or simply walk down the road to where you see the water flowing, and start along the creek. Since Willis Creek is in a remote location, I would recommend hitting up some other slot canyons nearby. Bull Valley Gorge is a deep, dark slot canyon hundreds of feet deep in the earth, and Lick Wash, which is geared to a more conservative hiking individual. Both are great slots that can be done in conjunction with Willis Creek.
